Hi.
Peter Fischer (Fischer-Bayern Artwork), Bob Feaver (RogerThat, CA), Shannon Boatman (Flying Colors) and I (Papa Mac Enterprises) are the principals in Shade Tree Micro Aviation, or STMA for short. Shannon and I originally formed STMA as a place to showcase our X-Plane aircraft models. Since that time Shannon has taken a sabbatical and Peter and Bob have joined me, bringing with them new ideas and a contagious enthusiasm, the end result of which is our new company headquarters....the Carson City X-Plane custom scenery pack.
This project started as a simple demonstration of Bob's HangarOps (c) plug-in which animates hangar doors, rotates the airplane around and pushes it back into or out of the hangar. Since then it has taken on a life of it's own, and since STMA has grown to a size where we needed a cyber-headquarters, we decided to model KCXP as accurately as we can and to offer it as a gift to the X-Plane community.
Over the next weeks and months we'll add more hangars and fixed base operations (FBO) offices and as many other features as we can, and we'll use it as a technology demonstrator to showcase our latest efforts. When we get it built, there'll be a line shack, equpped with an old pot-bellied stove, an always-full coffee pot, and ramshackle furniture. A place where X-Plane pilots are always welcome to drop in share their latest and greatest adventure or to reminisce about the good ol' days.
Why Carson City? I guess the best reason is that it's my home airport and so it's easy for me to make pictures of the features so that my talented cohorts can model them. On most days, if you look closely at Hangar A-10, one of the T-Hangars facing West in the Easternmost row on the Southwest side of the airfield, you'll see my Cessna C-182M Skylane at home. If it's not there, then I'm out flying :-)
So, welcome to our little corner of the world.
-Jim "Papa Mac" McNeill.
